People think its too good to be true which it is. There are a lot of website builders out there, and it can be tempting to create your own. Which a lot of people do. It gives them satisfaction that they created their own website, but the reality of a diy websites are often far from ideal.
A modern-day business website is essential for your business to succeed. It needs to do many things. One of those is rank well in Google search results, be easily navigable, and ultimately get results – here are our top reasons why a diy websites aren’t even worth considering if you really are a serious business looking to promote yourself on the web:

1. Cost

diy websites cost little to nothing

While many diy website builders

may advertise free or low-cost services, the fact is that this rarely holds true, not to mention that the time involved in personally building and maintaining your site all comes at an indirect cost to your business. Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, and others that have monthly subscriptions have little to no management software. They also do not allow you to own your content on  your website due to their proprietary systems that their websites are created on.

DIY Websites

They may actually mean you start out on a free trial before becoming subject to steep monthly charges, or that your entire site is littered with ugly banners promoting the website builder’s services unless you upgrade to an expensive hosting package.
As well as this, you will often encounter several hidden costs – for example, if you want to add plug-ins, apps, or extra features you are likely to be charged a considerable amount, whilst web hosting and domain registration will incur an additional fee per month on top of the standard website costs.

2. Appearance

diy websites look too structured
We always say here at Swarm Branding that first impressions count. When a client lands on your website for the first time. You have about 3-5 seconds to grab their attention. In order for potential customers to see you as a trustworthy company, it is really important that your businesses website gives off the vibe that you are professional, and credible.
If your website is created with a one-size-fits-all template or a diy website platform, diy websites usually look really basic, they are difficult to navigate, and appear identical to the other millions, of websites online that are using the same basic template.
You also have limited options to create your website because the lack of knowledge in the field so it will end up hurting your business in the long run.

3. Performance

diy websites do not perform well
This part is really serious. You get what you pay for & you have to spend money to make money. Self-built websites always, always, and last but not least ALWAYS have serious design flaws that will end up hindering you in the long run. Simply put, they just don’t work.
Likely to have very little capability for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Your self made website will get little to no traffic on the internet. Even if your website does include built-in tools to help you optimize it for search engines, unless you yourself have a sufficient knowledge of SEO, it can be a difficult and time-consuming process to understand without professional advice.
On top of this, websites with shared hosting. Which shared hosting is normal for DIY website builders. Typically are problematic because they have slow page loading times, causing potential customers to leave your website in frustration due to the poor user experience.

4. Support

diy websites do not have the support you need
You wake up one day & your diy website is down. What do you do? do you message wix, or shopify & find out why? Or there’s a new system upgrade for your diy website & you now have to do a bunch of updates that you have no clue how to do. With diy websites & DIY options website support will not normally be included, meaning that when you inevitably experience a problem with your site and require help, it’s going to cost you, or at the very least take up a significant amount of your time as you spend hours trawling through online FAQ sections and tutorials.
On top of that you wont receive actual personal support. No contact phone number more importantly you will have to figure everything out on your own. Which will take you hours maybe even days. Everyone knows how it feels to have your website down when that’s your internet real estate & main way to make money. The most common scenario you can expect to encounter when you come to seek help is being put through to an call center, meaning long waiting times for any website changes or fixes to be carried out and a waste of valuable time and money for you.

5. Time

Tools you need
Rome wasn’t built in a day, it took at least 7 days right? lol. So you shouldn’t expect your website to be built in that amount of time either. While the thought of getting your site built in less than 24 hours is an amazing idea. It never works like that. The first place in 2022 where people will go to learn about your business is your website & your social media. This reason alone means you have to invest time & effort into your website. It requires you to make it look and feel the right way. It has to cater to your businesses needs.
However, do not and i repeat do not assume you should be the one creating, working and maintaining your website. Creating an effective website is hard work – at the very least it involves design and SEO know-how – and for this reason self-builds are incredibly inefficient. Instead of exerting all your energy building a website, your time is much better spent doing what you do best – running your business.

6. Experience

Unless you want to get into our industry lol. That’s why when it comes to your website which is your KEY marketing tool. It pays to go to the professionals.
